I note with interest that teachers are likely to have a de facto pay freeze over the next couple of years.
First, a pay freeze will increase inequality in the salary structure, to the detriment of those who are young or female. For those who are both it is very bad news indeed.nbsp;
Second, performance pay systems don’t work. The employers always hope that they are a way of saving money, by somehow raising performance standards. The end result, however, is worse morale and the exit from the job of experienced staff.nbsp; That doesn’t save money.
