I can see why many trainee teachers are opposed to the QTS tests, but I do believe that too much emphasis is placed on those failing them. As our college expects us to pass their own maths audit, we see QTS numeracy as an extension exercise. The emphasis in schools on Sats results means that we are all expected to be able to record and interpret data. If you’re already doing this in school, then passing the QTS numeracy test shouldn’t be a problem.
