Letters extra: To pierce, or not to pierce?

I was surprised by the reaction of employers to the college librarian regarding body piercing ( TES , 5 September). I work for a college as a library assistant too, and, when I asked my employers at Oldham College Learning and Resource Centre whether it would be acceptable for me to wear body jewellery at work, they responded positively. They said they welcome diversity in their staff as well as in the student body.

It’s nice to know that there are employers who recognise the abilities of their staff rather than focusing on personal tastes in jewellery.
