Letters extra: Pupils are not patients

https://www.tes.com/magazine/archive/letters-extra-pupils-are-not-patients
There is no equivalence between a patient being able to complain to the GMC about a doctor, and a parent being able to complain to the GTC about a teacher. The equivalence is with a pupil being able to complain to the GTC about a teacher.

The quid pro quo for doctors is that they have the right to remove vexatious patients from their panel, and the obvious quid pro quo for teachers would be that they have the right to remove vexatious pupils from their classes. I would welcome these parallel rights being granted to pupils and teachers.
