Karen Thornton’s article on achievement awards “Rewards for doing the job properly” brought tears to my eyes - of despair.
As the governing bodies and staff of the selected schools argue over how the money should be spent I hope they will spare a thought for the school down the road with dedicated, hardworking staff who will receive nothing.
I hope they will think about those schools with high pupil turnover and large numbers of pupils with special needs who are not recognised by this Government as having done a good job.
All the staff in my fully inclusive school deserve this bonus for their dedication and hard work. Unfortunately they will leave with nothing. If any of the Governors have difficulty in spending the money they can always send it to me.
