It is sad to read of tarnished careers and embarrassed schools. The school itself, however, should not carry the blame for the faults of the lone miscreants. In fact, when the guilty promptly express contrition and offer resignation, the school can recover from the brief painful cathartic exposure. In contrast, what of the rogue headteacher, say, who gets away with cheating, or maybe the odd Chair of Governors who condones cover-up for fear of adverse publicity?
