Parcelforce has apologised to a secondary school after a set of marked A-level scripts was found dumped at the side of a road.

The confidential package of marked test papers and results was discovered by a builder as he swept up rubbish at a construction site in Bristol.

Teachers at Beechen Cliff school in Bath had been expecting the 14 marked geography and psychology papers to be delivered to them by the firm but they were apparently abandoned in a muddy ditch 25 miles away. Exam board AQA, which sent the papers, said the incident was “unacceptable”.
