The teaching of first aid skills has been reinstated into a revised curriculum for personal and social education in Wales starting in September 2008, following a campaign by St John Ambulance Wales. The direct requirement to teach lifesaving techniques, that has been part of the PSE curriculum since 2001, had been removed from the new curriculum despite officials arguing that it could be taught under other PSE subject areas.
