Linguists seek commitment

MR Wilby left me feeling outraged and then simply sad. In an ideal world, education should help pupils understand themselves and others. Modern foreign languages can do that, because they are not only a subject, but a way of life. The real reason languages are not compulsory is because we have failed to recruit enough teachers.
