“More information in store” is how the Scottish Office billed it.
Helen Liddell said: “Speaking as someone who has searched the bottom of school bags to find out what information schools are trying to pass on to parents, I know that sons and daughters are not the most reliable of messengers.”
The unusual approach is intended to flag the importance of the reforms, particularly for parents of fourth-year pupils. The move is also intended to ensure that the unions’ threatened boycott is not the only aspect of Higher Still which parents know about.
Neither the information for parents nor Mrs Liddell’s statement makes any direct reference to the boycott, although the Scottish Office press release did underline once again the support given to teachers and lecturers.
