NOT content with packing off several hundred thousand students to university each year, UCAS is entering the world of e-commerce, with an operation to rival amazon.com.
The admissions service has linked up with the aptly-named Swotbooks.com to offer academic textbooksat bargain prices via its website. The potential is huge, given UCAS chief Tony Higgins’ prediction that 85 per cent of university applications will be made electronically by 2003.
Impoverished students might as well spend what money they’ve got with UCAS.
