The Student Loans Company has warned that fraudsters are targeting first-year students who give personal details on social networking sites, allowing bank accounts to be hacked into. A survey of 1,100 UK university applicants found nearly three-quarters would reveal their date of birth and relationship status without thinking of the consequences.
