If you are going to take on your education authority, it helps to be a professional lobbyist. Not that we are suggesting that long service in the mysterious art by Devin Scobie, chair of Comiston primary school board in Edinburgh, had anything to do with the school escaping the axe in a change of heart by the city council.

The Comiston kids were to have gone to nearby Hunter’s Tryst primary.

Instead Hunter’s Tryst is now to be closed and it is possibly a coincidence that its chair is not, er, a lobbyist. Or perhaps not.
