Christopher Lewis, 52, lost his job as geography and history teacher at John Beddoes comprehensive in Powys after reporting his deputy head for smoking in the classroom. Four years later he is still fighting to win it back. He won his claim for unfair dismissal, but he cannot find work near his home and must make a 180-mile round trip to work at a school in Wolverhampton.
A hearing scheduled for May 8 will rule whether he can have his job back and fix compensation for losses he estimates at about pound;100,000.
He said: “It is appalling it has taken this long. I have never been in this for the compensation. All I want is my old job back.”
