Look amp; Cook is the most attractive children’s cookbook I’ve ever seen, created by a graphic designer, Tina Davis, with lavish use of vintage artwork and ring-bound wipe-clean pages. It has only the occasional hard-to-find ingredient and liberal servings of child appeal, especially for those who enjoy American children’s fiction and want to unveil the mysteries of million-dollar fudge, peanut butter cookies and popcorn balls.
Don’t despair over the butter and sugar content in some recipes: it also tells you how to steam vegetables, why you should drink plenty of water and how to cook rice and pasta. And the occasional home-baked brownie or blueberry muffin fits into anyone’s Get Active regime. Published by Stewart, Tabori and Chang at pound;13.99
