Roger Bruton wrote “Think before you make a mature decision” (Talkback, October 17), not Roger Burton, as published. He says this used to be a common error. “Once, while I was a ‘mature’ student I was able to delay paying an electricity bill for several weeks by writing ‘no person of that name at this address’ and returning bills on which a clerk had decided I didn’t know how to spell my surname. Things have got generally better since the days of the last Prime Minister of Eire.” Apologies all the same
