What would you rescue if the school was on fire?

Sandy Brownjohn’s books on encouraging children to write poetry, Does It Have To Rhyme? and What Rhymes With Secret? (Hodder and Stoughton Educational pound;9.99 each), have been with Betsey Barker, a music specialist in East Lothian, since she started teaching in 1984.

“Then they were wonderfully new and exciting. Today, I cannot imagine being without these immensely special books full of creative ideas.

“The many games and poetry exercise offer brilliant ways to enhance the grammar element of the literacy hour and can be adapted to every level within a class and across primary and secondary.I have used them for a special needs class, for poetry clubs, for all language work, and more recently to encourage the writing of song lyrics.”

What would you rescue if the school was on fire, and why? We pay pound;40 for each recommendation published. Write to Love It, TES Friday, Admiral House, 66-68 East Smithfield, London E1W 1BX
