Low hopes for the low achieving

Perhaps rather than looking at the students UK government policy is apparently trying to support, we should look at those who are unsupported. Since the start of league tables, schools have been forced to take a closer look at students who are borderline grade C. Now the government has encouraged English schools inspectorate Ofsted to look at the performance of the brightest students. Who does not show up as being of interest? Those who would not be expected to achieve grade C - that is, the lowest-performing students. We are building up an education system that the least able in schools can be expected to hate and get nothing from. If we are expected to tell bright students that they are bright, does this mean we should tell the least able that they are the least able? I guarantee that will not help the future of this country.
