CONFUSION reigns in Wales, where the Post Office has succeeded where the likes of Hank Roberts and Doug McAvoy failed: it has brought about professional unity.

That, at least, is the conclusion some draw from the amount of mail for the Welsh branch of the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers that has been landing on the doorstep of its grea rival, the National Union of Teachers Cymru. It seems posties can’t tell the difference between the two (they’ve obviously never been to their conferences).

Most intriguing was the letter simply addressed to “NASUWT Branch Wales Committee, Regional Office, Cymru” (a bit like sending a letter to Nigel de Gruchy, England). The sender? NASUWT head office.
