Major rage;Letter

As a retired sergeant-major, I felt that I had to complain about The Last Word column, “Please don’t beam me over” (TES, May 1).

I feel that the references made by Ted Wragg to ex-army types, retired sergeant-majors etc, were most offensive. Mr Wragg infers that all ex-military personnel are fit only to shout, and scream at pupils.

Mr Wragg must have watched lots of old films to have come up with this idea of ex-military personnel.

I know of several former service people - including sergeant-majors - who now have very successful careers in education, teaching and administration.
