Scottish schools are being encouraged to enter the TES Newspaper Day competition next month. The aim is for pupils to produce a newspaper to real deadlines, within one day, using “live” news and writing for a real readership.

Schools choose from the variety of news and features offered and display their selection on page, together with advertisements if they want. The aim is to show the excitement - and discipline - involved in following up, writing and presenting stories.

Schools can produce their paper on March 11 or March 12, and primaries are encouraged to enter as well as secondaries. Details of how to register appear on page 23.
