Making sense

The Royal Society's autumn programme of open meetings and lectures includes: Dr Helen Haste, Bath University, on "Making sense of the world", October 3, 5.30 pm, in which she will use examples from children's understanding of scientific concepts, and public beliefs about science, to examine how we give meaning to the information gathered by our senses; and Dr Claude Debru, Universite Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg, on "The usefulness of the history of science for scientific education", November 13, 5.30 pm.
