NOBODY likes him in Belfast and not many people seem to like him in Westminster either, but Peter Mandelson has a place forever in the hearts of school governors.
The Northern Ireland Secretary won their undying affection for turning up to the inaugural annual meeting of Hartlepool governors association.
Hartlepool, of course, is the spin-mester’s own constituency, but even so, he managed to find time despite being in the middle of crisis talks in Belfast. Some contrast to education ministers who have consistently failed to turn up to various national governors’ conferences.
Those who were there say Mandelson was charm itself, and didn’t talk down to them once. Bless him.
