Brian Tait is Scotland’s first male beauty therapist, according to Clackmannan College. Aged 25, from Stenhousemuir, he successfully completed a higher national diploma in beauty therapy at the college and will graduate in November with his seven female classmates.
Initially a chef, he switched career after finding inspiration from makeover programmes on television. “It seemed to me that the top stylists were men,” he said. He hopes to work at a health farm or on a cruise ship.
Moira Campbell, senior lecturer in beauty therapy at Clackmannan College, said she hoped his example would encourage more men to join the profession.
“We have a number of male clients for treatments and this looks like a side of the profession that is going to grow and grow,” she said.
