THERE WAS a surprised tone to your lead story (TESS, August 13) about the lack of men applying for and getting jobs as classroom assistants in primary schools.
In truth, the predominance of women, many of them no doubt with young families of their own, is barely a matter for comment. The search for equality everywhere blinds people to the obvious fact that men are less suited to some jobs than women and vice versa. Well-intentioned rhetoric cannot deny that. Shoe-horning men in to tie laces would be a nonsense.
