Mrs Sugarman has a corner shop.

She ordered 19 large and 3 small packs of marbles.

When the marbles were delivered, the packs had burst open and all the marbles were loose.

Mrs Sugarman counted 224 loose marbles.

How many marbles should she put into a large pack? How many in a small pack?

Marbles

224 marbles can be packaged as:

19 packs 3 packs

11 marbles 5 marbles

8 marbles 24 marbles

5 marbles 43 marbles

2 marbles 62 marbles

Since there were 3 smaller packs, Mrs Sugarman should put 11 marbles in each of 19 larger packs and 5 in each of 3 smaller ones.
