Gordon Marsden will continue to be Labour’s shadow minister for FE, HE and skills, following Jeremy Corbyn’s shadow cabinet reshuffle.

The MP for Blackpool South told TES that he was “thrilled to have this vote of confidence” and would “continue to work hard to hold the government to account”.

News that he would retain that role was confirmed by shadow education secretary Angela Rayner on Twitter, following the publication of Jeremy Corbyn’s shadow cabinet team. Mr Marsden was appointed to the role in September 2015 - a position he also held from 2010 until 2013. He was first elected to Parliament in 1997.
