The Scottish Chamber Orchestra plans to prepare a CD-Rom of its Masterworks projects in 2006 and 2007, which should be available to secondary schools in 2008.

The SCO launched its Masterworks series in 1998 to introduce Standard grade, Higher and Advanced Higher pupils to contemporary music.

The music is broken down into chunks, showing how it was put together and the composer used various musical procedures and effects, then the orchestra performs the complete work. Projects have taken place in East Ayrshire, South Ayrshire, Edinburgh, Fife, South Lanarkshire, Stirling and Dumfries and Galloway.

Music Factory, an associated composition project for Advanced Higher pupils, was previously only available in Edinburgh but now has been rolled out to each of those areas.
