“The Challenge of Materials”, a new gallery at the London Science Museum, features a high-tech simulation of a modern steelworks, investigations into issues such as waste management and recycling, clothing exhibits by famous designers, and such intriguing exhibits as a steel wedding dress, a transparent body filled with surgical implants, chocolate shoes, an aluminium handbag and a Bakelite coffin.
