Maths chief’s new job

Celia Hoyles, the Government’s chief adviser on maths education, is to become the director of its professional development network, the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics. Professor Hoyles’

appointment will be seen as an attempt by the Government to take a closer hold of the national centre after the resignation of its first director, Professor David Burghes, last November. Professor Hoyles will continue as chief adviser until November.
