The latest figures on teaching vacancies in secondary schools, released in a parliamentary answer this week, show maths and English teachers in shortest supply. In full-time equivalent terms, vacancies last September existed for 42.87 teachers of maths, 40.41 in English, 29.6 in modern languages, 17.45 in technological education and 14.7 in physics.
