Real-life examples of tricky mathematical concepts are always welcome. A set of large, colourful and humorous A-level posters from the Mathematical Association do the trick. Skewness shows how the relationships between mean, mode and median can change in a variety of contexts. Kinematics uses sport to explore the difference between constant and variable acceleration.

These and more A-level posters cost pound;4.50 each to MA members or pound;5.50 to non-members. The posters can be viewed at the MA website: www.m-a.org.uk
