Our school had children who received between 53 and 75 marks, who were all awarded level 4. Last year most of these would be level 5.

How do Government ministers expect teachers and children to feel when they have worked to raise standards in maths and then they move the goalposts so dramatically once again? How do children feel who could have earned 20 marks more than their siblings last year and are still given the same grade?

Or is this again a political motive to show how wonderful the numeracy hour is going to be next year?
