After you have watched the video and used the resource in a lesson, we would love to hear from you. You can record your thoughts in the Comments section on the web page. This week’s, uploaded by pencho, is a set of 10 unstructured algebra problems designed for foundation level at GCSE. When you combine the words unstructured, algebra and foundation, it can often spell disaster, but this can give you an edge. Different levels of support are offered for each question. You can give students structured hints on how to approach the questions, muddle up the order, or give no hints at all. This allows for differentiation, group work and scaffolding, so you can slowly build students’ confidence. My favourite is Problem 4 about Barry and Charlie’s ages, where structured support guides them to a rewarding solution. To view the video and access the Resource of the Week page to share your comments and thoughts, visit www.tes.co.ukresources003.
