What is it?
The resources are split into concept stages:
relative position (how to use positional language);
movement and turns; and
All are developed by TESiboard's Steve Rawlins, a specialist in the application of early educational ICT.
In a set of woodland-themed activities, younger pupils choose words that best describe the relative positions of creatures in the scenes. They also act on instructions by putting the creatures into positions requested on screen.
Think about movement with "Lily Hop", where pupils can create and adapt their own mazes. Then introduce simple turns and grid references with "Controlling Round a Route" and finish with "Mole Maze", which challenges children to program a sequence of instructions using both angles and distance.
