Maths trainee numbers rise

targets for maths teacher trainee numbers are within reach for the first time in a decade. Applications for maths postgraduate teacher-training courses have increased by 35 per cent in England and 43 per cent in Wales compared with last year. However, 91 of 109 maths courses still have at least one vacancy.
