Wannabe directors who wish to change the world can compete for entry to this year’s Co-operative Young Film-Makers Festival in June.

All types of film - drama, documentary, music video or silent will be accepted to the festival - but they must be no longer than six minutes. Entrants can tackle issues which concern them, such as climate change, fair trade, animal welfare or healthy living, or their life, community or experiences.

The festival will be held at Bradford’s award-winning National Media Museum on October 8-9, where the young directors will get to see their work on the big screen, take part in events with experts, and receive feedback on their entries.

Edgar Wright, festival patron and director of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, said: “I saw all of my early shorts in front of packed houses at the National Media Museum. It was great and inspired me ever onward.”

Organisers want first-time directors to submit entries, as well as those with more experience, but all should be aged 19 or under. The deadline is June 26.
