It was heartening to see the acknowledgement of media literacy skills as part of the repertoire of gifted and talented pupils (TES, June 1) and to open a debate on the status of media studies. It was, though, a disappointment that there was so little reference to the founding conference of Warwick university’s newly formed Media Education Association, which generated the debate. This new subject association represents one of the fastest-growing cross-curricular and cross-phase constituencies of recent years and we hope readers with an interest in media education will look at what the MEA can offer them by visiting its website.l www.mediaedassociation.org.uk
