Memories of heady notice days

AS an ex-teacher, I thoroughly enjoyed Al Constantine’s article “The End is Nigh” (TES Jobs, June 7). I must say, however, that I have relished working my notice period in schools.

Although I am in favour of being responsible, there was always something confidence-building in the internalised question, “What are they going to do, sack me?” I could even rise smilingly above the worst staffroom squabbles. At this time of year, I am envious of those who may now be enjoying such heady days. The feeling could even be worth going back into teaching for. Well, I was reading the jobs pages...
