About 3,000 cases of meningitis are reported every year in the UK, but experts estimate that this is only half of the true picture. A new website has been launched to help teachers of 7 to 11-year-olds prepare interactive lessons for science and PSHE. The site features downloadable lesson plans, worksheets, and whiteboard presentations featuring Monty the Duck, a character who takes pupils through the world of micro-organisms, introducing them to good and bad bacteria and showing them how they affect our bodies. There are also quizzes and animations to help children learn more about meningitis and the effect it can have on people’s lives.
