An outreach service to bring mental health services to homeless young people on the streets of Edinburgh will be launched later this year. It will be funded by the Executive’s primary care resources development fund.

Dr Robert Wrate, consultant psychiatrist a the Young People’s Unit in Edinburgh, said a third of homeless young people had suffered severe depression in the past year and one in 10 currently had depression. “These people need help too with their problem-solving skills which become very poor.”
