Newcastle-under-Lyme College is looking for employers to act as student mentors in its new finance career academy due to launch in September. The national career academies programme involves employers, schools and colleges working together to raise the aspirations of teenagers. Nationally, 95 per cent of academy graduates end up in higher education, or equivalent work-related training, compared with 40 per cent who were destined for this level of study at the start of the programme.
