Peter Fryer’s book, Staying Power: The History of Black People in Britain, has been a key source on this topic for anyone needing to research the black presence in the UK over the past 400 years. Now the National Archives has pooled together information from more than 150,000 sources at 30 museums, libraries and archives to create the “Moving Here” website, which looks at Caribbean, Jewish and south Asian migration into England over the past 200 years. It is also looking for new contributions from visitors, with their own stories of migration.
