A group of Higher drama students in South Lanarkshire has helped to write and produce a DVD warning their peers about the dangers of debt.

The 16 pupils from Larkhall Academy were backed by the council’s trading standards service and filmed Making the Most of Your Money in various locations across South Lanarkshire. The council won pound;10,000 funding for the project from the Scottish Government.

The 40-minute film tells the stories of four fictional characters, including a pupil who wants to leave school and go into employment and another who wants to go into further education. Each scenario looks at the decisions, both financial and social, that they face, as well as the sources of information and advice they seek out.

In addition, the DVD includes an interactive, Who wants to be a Millionaire? style of quiz, with questions on issues such as identity fraud, doorstep lenders and the difference between debit and credit cards.
