I was interested to see Willis Pickard correcting my old friend Morris Simpson’s misuse of vocabulary (25 May). As Willis points out, it is indeed “the kind of error he should be looking out for” - although I always feel it is inelegant to end a sentence or phrase with a preposition. Morris has asked me to pass on grateful thanks to his former editor, and to wish him a continuing happy retirement.
