While Professor Jean Aitchison’s caution against pedantic criticism of English deserves to be heeded, Jill Parkin’s feature “Inspection for starters” (TES, February 23) raises an interesting point by combining a reference to a “Leed’s primary school” with a subsequent comment on a classroom where “only one misplaced apostrophe” was noticed.
Is there some connection between the misplaced apostrophe and a school in Leed?
