Using handheld technology such as mobile phones can improve pupils’

confidence and concentration at school, according to researchers.

Futurelab, a technology research centre in Bristol, made the claim in a new handbook for teachers hoping to get the most out of handheld technologies.

The book gives advice on the pros and cons of technology including mobile phones, personal digital assistants, portable PCs, games consoles and iPods.
