Bring a little competition to the French classroom with maryjane1969‘s The Perfect Tense Card Race, an exciting way to approach grammar.
What is it?
A PowerPoint and a set of colourful cards. Pupils have cards with pronouns in English, the different forms of avoir and etre and a number of other verbs written on them. The subject and infinitive are displayed on the board. Then, in teams, pupils must race to select the appropriate cards and display them in the right order to form the statement in the perfect tense. For example, for “I” and “finir” they must select j’ai fini. Answers are displayed on the board after each turn.
Why is it useful?
Working together gives pupils the opportunity to develop their confidence, and the challenge of beating other teams will engage them with the often dry topic of grammar.
