For Queen Victoria’s golden jubilee, a patriotic inventor patented a bustle containing a musical box which would play “God Save the Queen” whenever the wearer sat down. It was an ingenious but exhausting device because every time the wearer sat down she and everybody around her had to stand immediately for the national anthem.
