The Scottish Book Trust, Standard Life and Learning and Teaching Scotland have got together to produce a P5-7 literacy and numeracy project on financial education. Four Scottish writers - Alison Prince, Jonathan Morris, Nicola Morgan and Theresa Breslin - have been commissioned to write short stories with a focus on finance: Funny Money, Down the Pan, No Change and Charlie Fly and the Nice Dream. The stories, to be read aloud and discussed as triggers for cross-curricular projects in personal and social education, citizenship and drama, will be launched on June 19. They will be supported by teachers’ notes, a DVD with British Sign Language for the deaf and CD audio version for the blind.
